Dr Scott Allan Orr began his carillon studies with Roy Lee at the University of Toronto. In 2014, he received a carillonneur diploma summa cum laude from the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn” in Mechelen, Belgium, where he studied performance with Eddy Mariën and composition with Erik Vandevoort. Since then, he has performed invited recitals around the world, including Belgium, France, Canada, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.
Scott has been commissioned to write works for carillon by the Royal Carillon School “Jef Denyn,” the University of Toronto, and the Mayo Clinic. He holds both an associate and licentiate in music literacy from the London College of Music. His carillon activities are undertaken alongside his role as a lecturer at University College London where he researches and teaches at the intersection of heritage and data science, including campanology.
