Richard studied at the Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn" in Mechelen and graduated with great distinction in 2010. Richard has won several (first) prizes at international carillon competitions and regularly gives carillon concerts in the Netherlands and abroad.
Since 2012 he has been the city carillonist of Rotterdam, where he plays the 63-bell Petit & Fritsen carillon of city hall and the beautiful historic Hemony carillon (1660) of the Laurens Church. Since 2019 he has also been the municipal carillonneur of Tholen & Sint-Maartensdijk (Zeeland). In addition to his weekly performances, he organizes numerous projects and tower concerts for young and old. See www.torenmuziek.nl.
In 2019, Richard launched the Great Rotterdam Songbook together with Mayor Aboutaleb and 50 singing primary school pupils. Rotterdam has around 170 nationalities. Richard collected one children's song or folk song for each nationality in the city. Since 2019, all the songs have been playing every day through the city via the three city carillons.
As an accordionist, Richard plays in the group "Kampa Kampa!" His own repertoire is interspersed with world music, tangos, chansons and folksongs. Richard is also the driving force behind the company "Daar Zit Muziek In" - especially established to bring more music into education through workshops and performances.

Nederlandse Klokkenspel Vereniging and artistic adviser of “Stichting Stadsmuziek Rotterdam”
